Tracking is a collective name for all mechanisms that allow you to start and control the process of user acquisition.

The process is generally as follows:

  1. You create an account/project/application as described in the documentation.
  2. You create campaign, add tracking links and set up postbacks (optional).
  3. You place a URL (click/view) from the tracking links in your partner ? system.
  4. A partner runs the ad campaign.
  5. A user clicks ? on ads and is redirected ? to the app store or your site.
    • When processing a redirect or S2S request, myTracker saves the click/view information so that it can be used for further attribution. The partner usually saves some information about the advertising action as well.
  6. The user installs and launches a mobile application or visits a site for the first time.
  7. The application transmits installation/first visit information to the server (using the SDK).
  8. myTracker uses all available data to associate a tracked data (clicks/views) with the appearance of a new user.
  9. myTracker saves data on installation and attribution, you can use it in reports and upload through the API and you can get it in reports and also uploaded via API.
  10. myTracker sends a postback to the partner.

If you have not created an Account, Project and Application yet, it is time to do so: follow the Environment section. Remember to embed the SDK in your application.

Add campaign

myTracker has a two-level system «Campaign → Tracking link ». The Campaign is required for any advertising activity. When creating a campaign, you specify:

  1. Title
  2. Traffic type
  3. Optionally:
    • Partner
    • Additional postbacks
    • Tariffs
    • Corrections

The campaign is not tied to the application. You can create tracking links for different applications and smart links within the same campaign. The number of tracking links in the campaign is not limited.

Set up postbacks

Many partners require to send (in real time) information about the progress of the advertising campaign - Postbacks. For integrated partners (companies for which we've already set up postbacks, macros, and other mechanisms for the launch of advertising campaigns), we have already configured postbacks - all you need to do is set the sending mode. Just open the list of partners, choose the one you need, go to Event sending, choose an app and mark the events for your partner.

After creating a campaign and setting up postbacks, you need to add tracking links. You specify:

  1. Title
  2. Link type: regular or smart ?
  3. Target URL
  4. Optionally:

If you want to see ROI (Return of Investments) in myTracker reports, you need to configure tariffs for the campaign. After that myTracker will start calculating Campaign Costs for each target event

Corrections are needed if for some reason the payments have changed (e.g. fines or bonuses to the partner) or it is impossible to calculate the costs (a complex arrangement, fixed cost, etc.).

The correction amount is evenly distributed over a given time period according to the basic metrics (without taking into account social and demographic data and geography). When building a report, the correction value is added to the cost of the campaign calculated with an ad-pricing model.

New partner

We are trying to increase the list of integrated partners, but it's not yet complete. The advertising market is continuously growing, new players appear. That's why you couldn't be faced with a situation in which a partner isn't on our list. In such a case, you can add a new partner independently. In a simple variant, it will be enough to specify the name. In the more complex ones, you should set up postbacks, macros, etc.

Own postbacks

We have set up postbacks for most integrated partners, and in many cases you just need to specify their sending mode. But there are situations when there are not enough ready-made postbacks:

  • You are adding a new partner (see New partner)
  • You need to pass postbacks to your own or third-party analytics system

In these cases, you can create additional postbacks and use them in the same way as regular postbacks.

Before creating your own postback, it makes sense to contact the support team: it is possible that your problem has already been solved and you'll be able to do with the regular functions. We are also ready to help you with the interface of postbacks.
