TikTok for Business integration

TikTok for Business is a platform that enables brands and marketers the solutions to engage with the TikTok community. It provides access to all TikTok ad formats: TopView, which is the ad that appears when a user first launches the TikTok app, Brand Takeovers (full-screen ads), In-Feed Ads (videos embedded into user feed), etc.

MyTracker's integration with TikTok for Business lets you collect stats on your promotional activities on TikTok, get to know your actual audience (via metrics like MAU, LTV, etc.), and boost the inflow of quality traffic.

Restrictions

In accordance with TikTok's guidelines for Mobile Measurement Partners, MyTracker has regularized how raw view-through attribution data is shared with advertisers. Post-view impression data will be restricted, and the view-through attribution (VTA) device IDs will only be shared at the network level.

These restrictions do not affect post-click attribution data and aggregated VTA data in the UI (Report builder and Dashboards).

Integration stages

This integration has been pre-configured in MyTracker. To get data on TikTok ads, all you have to do is use a tracking link created in our system:

  1. In MyTracker, create an ad campaign, selecting TikTok For Business (ByteDance) as the Partner.
  2. Add a tracking link to your app.
  3. Enable postbacks to be sent to the partner’s system:
    • Go to the Postbacks tab and press .
    • In the opened window, specify TikTok App ID. To find out this identifier, contact your TikTok For Business manager. For more details, see the partner documentation.
    • If you use more than one TikTok For Business advertising account to promote the app, you can list a few TikTok App IDs, separated by commas without spaces

    • Select Send attributed for all events:
      • Send attributed — to send only postbacks related to users attracted by your partner's marketing campaign;
      • Send all — to send postbacks related to all app users.
      For Payment events select the mode: Send all or Verified only.
    • Select Partner event name for custom events. This is a number, predefined by TikTok For Business, which you can find in the table Supported events.
    • Add event parameters to clarify the conditions for sending a postback if you need. For example, you can send a "achieve_level" postback only if the "level" parameter is "10".
  4. MyTracker informs TikTok for Business about events via postbacks, passing only the event number, but not event parameters. For example, the partner gets the Add to cart event but doesn't learn which product has been added to the cart

  5. Share the tracking link with your partner. You can copy  Click or Impressions URL from the Tracking links tab and either send it to your TikTok for Business manager or paste it into your ad yourself.

Results

After the campaign is launched, MyTracker will gather data on the number of clicks, impressions, and installs brought by the partner. To view this results, build a report in MyTracker:

  1. In the Report builder, select TikTok For Business (ByteDance) in the Partners filter.
  2. You can also add dimensions by traffic:
    • SubID Campaign (campaign id);
    • SubID Creative (advertisement id);
    • SubID Ad Set (ad set id);
    • SubID Network (application name / traffic channel).
  3. Press the Calculate button.

Troubleshooting

If you see no TikTok For Business stats in MyTracker:

  • Make sure the MyTracker SDK has been integrated into your app.
  • Make sure your ad campaign with the partner is active, and clicks are recorded in the TikTok For Business.
